New Japantown Development Proposal with Apartments, Office Space & Retail
Posted on August 25, 2020.

New development news is not just reserved for downtown San Jose… Just a few blocks away from the city’s core, a new project has been proposed in Japantown. The owner of an office high-rise near Japantown is asking for feedback from the city regarding a proposal to develop a parking lot into a mixed-use project with apartments, office space, and retail.
The proposal includes a structure up to 210 feet tall with 244 apartments, nearly 61,000 square feet of office space, and 731 parking spaces. The project site is currently home to a 302-space surface parking lot that serves a one-story office building at 695 N 1st Street and a 13-story office high-rise known as Civic Center.
The planning commission is set to review this plan later this fall or winter 2021.
