Looking for a jazz fix and can’t wait for Summer Fest? San Jose Jazz’s Winter Fest is the answer.

Concerts will be held at the intimate Theater on San Pedro Square, and will feature established musicians as well as some up-and-comers. Highlights of the festival include a collaboration between young jazz artists Amrose Akinmusire and Gerald Clayton; vocalist Jamie Davis; saxophone prodigy Grace Kelly; Bay Area favorites The Blues All Stars with J.C. Smith, Chris Cain & Maxx Cabello, Jr.; and global fusion group Rupa & the April Fishes.

Other exciting events include dance parties and a “Club Crawl”. The Blues Dance Party will feature Summer Fest favorite Legally Blue, and the Salsa Dance Party will feature the Latin Salsa Big Band sounds of the Pacific Mambo Orchestra. Both parties will be held at the new local favorite San Pedro Square Market. The Club Crawl will have performances by local jazz groups at favorite downtown San Jose bars and restaurants in San Pedro Square including 71 Saint Peter, La Piñata, The Mmoon, O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub, and the Satori Tea Company. Food and drink specials will be available during the festival.

Now in its 22nd year in downtown San Jose, Cinequest makes its triumphant return February 28 – March 11 with an exciting line-up of inspirational films, exciting events, and lively and thought-provoking discussions.

Opening Night kicks off with the screening of Luc Bresson’s The Lady starring Michelle Yeoh, and includes a celebration at the newly renovated Hyatt Place San Jose. Cinequest will be book-ended with its closing night celebration featuring Maverick Spirit Award Winner Terence Davies and his film The Deep Blue Sea.

Other highlights of the film festival include: Day of Empowering Voice – a discussion between Silicon Valley and Hollywood about technology, social media, art, and the digital youth generation; Spotlight Presentations; Silent Cinema; Writers Celebration; and Encore Day – a mix of gourmet food trucks and award winning films.

Besides screenings and discussions, there are plentiful opportunities to meet fellow film lovers at the VIP Soirees and Meetups. For VIP All Access pass holders, there is a happy hour gathering each evening at downtown venues including Azucar, Gordon Biersch, 360 Residences, and the Silicon Valley Capital Club. Meetups happen each evening after the screenings and events and are open to all ticket and pass holders. Another fabulous event is being put on by Dishcrawl this weekend. The inaugural San Jose Beerwalk is making its way to Japantown near downtown San Jose. 15+ beers will be poured by restaurants and retailers throughout Japantown.
