Great Lineup Set for Music in the Park

music-in-park-09.jpgThis year’s Music in the Park series is ready to kick off with a blast next Thursday evening. A blast from the past that is with a pair of 80’s rock tribute bands. Long Gon Bon (AC/DC tribute) and Evolution (Journey tribute) lead off another fantastic lineup of free concerts at Music in the Park. The weekly free concert series presented by the San Jose Downtown Association is filled a wide range of musical genres including alt rock favorites Third Eye Blind (wow!), popular reggae artists Eek-A-Mouse, to a Beatles tribute from White Album Ensemble. A couple of other big names are part of the music series this year including pop rock sensation Better Than Ezra, local favorite Pete Escovedo, and Colin Hay of Men at Work. Can you say “I come from a land down under”?

In addition, if you can carry a tune, Music in the Park wants to hear you. In the mode of “American Idol,” this year’s Music in the Park will also be presenting “San Jose’s Got Talent,” a musical competition to be held during July and August. So for all those in-the-shower or in-the-car crooners, sign up and let’s hear what you got!

The music starts at 5:30pm each Thursday evening starting June 4 through August 27 at Plaza de Cesar Chavez. Full schedule with artists scheduled to perform below.
