Christmas in the Park 2020 - Drive Through the Holiday Experience

Christmas in the Park has been a Downtown San Jose tradition since the early 1950s. Since then it has evolved into the event that we have experienced in recent years at the Plaza de Cesar Chavez where patrons have enjoyed a winter wonderland filled with various food and gift vendors, decorated trees, ice skating, and more!

2020 presents a series of challenges for this event, which normally leads to large crowds and close contact, and this year must abide by social distance and other COVID-19 safe practices. Adapting to these conditions, Christmas in the Park this year will still go on and just shift to be a drive thru holiday experience at History Park in San Jose.

According to the official site:

“You will still see all of the whimsical displays, hundreds of decorated Christmas trees and even some new features that will add to your enjoyment of the event. The setting for our event in 2020, History Park, is an amazing venue. Through 32 original and reproduction homes, businesses and landmarks, History Park reveals Santa Clara Valley’s past. The 14-acre site offers the "charm and ambiance of times gone by" and creates a perfect site for our event. In case you are wondering, you will also still be able to see Santa!”

Normally free, the event this year will require an admission fee simply due to the loss in sponsorships, concessions, ride revenue, and vendor booth fees. Depending on the time of day, you can expect to pay between $10 and $20 per car. The drive thru will also require and advance reservation. This holiday event will be available by reservation from November 27-January 3, 2021.
